World Record 由 Rick Rubin 和 Neil Young 制作，Neil 由他的长期乐队 Crazy Horse（Billy Talbot、Ralph Molina、Nils Lofgren）伴奏。这张专辑收录了 10 首 Neil Young 的新作品（加上一首歌曲的简短重唱），并在 Rubin 的香格里拉工作室使用精选的老式乐器和设备混音成模拟磁带。

为了优化音质，黑胶唱片将以 3 面双面专辑的形式发行，在第 4 面进行蚀刻。独立零售商也将推出压印在透明黑胶唱片上的限量版专辑。“世界纪录”也将以 CD（2 张 CD 反映双 LP 的曲目顺序）和盒式磁带的形式发行。世界纪录包含十首歌曲，其中九首是在去年创作的，讲述了我们这个世界的事件和状况。
